Peace For All

Peace-Promising God,

bullets,
bombs,
bitterness.

Peace-Promising God,

You promise peace to us.
But we lock the doors:
Check the deadbolt twice,
Install an extra brace,
Fasten the unused clasp.

Peace-Promising God,

Fears have locked our doors:
Insecure and uncertain,
Bewildered and broken,
Rattled and restless,

Unsettling feelings within us:
Anguish and anger,
Grief and gut-wrenching groans,
Hopelessness and Heartbreak.

Peace-Promising God,

Your Promises Remembered,
Your Love Bursting doors open,
Ancient words carefully spoken:
Shimmering today and forever.

Peace, I gift to you.
Peace, I give to you.
Peace, I've shown you.
Peace, I hurt with you.
Peace, I've overcome for you.
Peace, I'll always be with you.
Peace, My Kingdom is near to you.

Peace-Promising God,

Help us to trust these promises:
Peace, God's gift to us.
Peace, God gives to us.
Peace, God shows to us.
Peace, God hurts with us.
Peace, God's overcome for us.
Peace, God'll always be with us.
Peace, God's Kingdom is near us.

Peace-Promising God,

Heal us with
your peace-filled promises
Peace, God's gift to all.
Peace, God gives to all.
Peace, God's shown to all.
Peace, God hurts with all.
Peace, God's overcome for all.
Peace, God is always with all.
Peace, God's Kingdom for all.

Peace-Promising God,

We turn over the deadbolt,
Break down the door brace,
Unfasten the clasp.
We open wide the doors.
Peace, God's Gift for all.
Peace, come to us.
