We Expectantly Wait

And so we expectantly wait
For life to reflect Reality and hope to fill every cavity.
When the lion and the lamb
Dance to a silent tune intuitively sung by all humanity.

Until then,
Addiction assaults an
Anxious audience
Caught in counterfeit dramas spun on cable channels.

Yet the manger conspires to
Redeem and reconcile.
The Game’s not over,
‘Til the phat lady sings peace and justice for all.

Please!
An epidemic of pathologies neuters pietistic pleas.
Global healing springs
From clusters committed to subversive practices of love and kindness.

This teenage virgin sings of lowly prophets
Cascading over corporate profits.
Meanwhile, predator drones are protested back to earth like manna
Making space for the generous yeast of Love rising into eternity.

Light the candle!
Burn our hearts with the Story
Of a blue-collar couple
Who shares Bethlehem dreams with the overlooked and left out.

And so we expectantly wait
For life to reflect Reality and hope to fill every cavity.
When sorrow melts into solidarity
And tears turn to triumph for all humanity.
Amen.
